Floor Spiders Crew 10th Anniversary Jam 9.16.12

September 2, 2012

September 16th will mark the 10 yr anniversary of Des Moines, IA longest standing active bboy crew, F.S.C, which among other battles, cyphers, and appearances is well known for impromptu appearances at various Maxilla Blue shows throughout the midwest.

Originally founded by Rekloose of the Shovel Kids/DMNY, LouMEGA and GAGE1 who was also a member of Des Moines’ very first breakin’ crew, DMC, the FloorSpidersCrew has helped to set the pace for maintaining the original hip hop essence in Iowa.  Crew members have traveled and cyphered or battled in multiple states, Mexico, Asia, and other locations, provided instructional courses and exhibition performances at everything from the Des Moines Art Festival to record release shows in Minneapolis, to Harlem Globetrotter and other semi-pro basketball games, gaining shouts and praise from various culture heads, including Afrika Bambaataa himself, of the Universal Zulu Nation .  Although recently and decidedly more focused on the ciphers where it all started as opposed to exhibition performances, the crew is as alive and thriving as ever, boasting 15 full fledge members in its roster from young Bri-ZeeRoc (age 9) who started breaking at age 3, to Gage1 (age 40) who helped establish the crew.

On Sunday, September 16th The Maxilla Crew returns the favor of contributing to the history that FSC has helped to build.  Aeon Grey, who can recall rocking shows with various Spiders showing up to catch wreck probably before any other local artist, performs live at the Anniversary, along with Gadema.  Asphate, whose entire household family consists of bboys/bgirls, and who is a direct member of the FloorSpiders himself, will emcee the event while also offering a brief live performance.  Dj TouchNice along with Dj Episode will hold down the events sound push, as they both rock the wheels of steel until the night’s end.
