Maxilla Blue’s Volume 3 LP Release show has been set for Friday, March 2nd at home court, The Vaudeville Mews. Retail date is February 28, 2012. The show will be a late show, 21+. Also joining the crew will be Dj Episode, Qwazaar (Typical Cats), and Old Irving, rocking the dual MPC instrumental set for the beat heads and bboys, along with Robust to kick it off correct. If the line-up looks familiar, get used to it. One of the rawest, most influential, and non-deviating underground hip hop stables, Galapagos4, is now home to Maxilla Blue, beginning with the release of our most recent creation, Vol. 3. This work will be brought to the public as a split release with Central-Standard Records, in vinyl, cd, and digital form. Make sure to hit Galapagos4.com and dig around a bit for more sounds that suit you.

Another Galapagos4 connection for set wreckin’…If you remember last time G4 stepped in the place to be in Des Moines, Qwel & Maker, along with Dj SPS (2008 DMC Sup. Champ) gave it raw to the heads of the city, with some help from Maxilla Blue and Neon Current. This time out Qwazaar, of Typical Cats, Outer Limitz, and Dirty Digital lore comes to slaughter shop from all angles, featuring the fresh-produce producer Batsauce, and fresh off the September 13th release of “Bat Meets Blaine.” The exquisite LP is a keen follow-up to the “Style Be The King” EP dropped earlier this year, featuring the same cast of villains. If you’ve been wondering where the crush-level hiphop went, do yourself a favor and locate that EP at Galapagos4.com for digi format, or fifthelementonline.com for the CD, if you’re fortunate enough to find any in stock. If you listen to “Style Be the King” ain’t no need for us to further hype “Bat Meets Blaine.” If you haven’t yet heard “Style Be the King,” back up a few sentences on this page…

The good news is Bat Meets Blaine will be available here in Des Moines on Thursday, September 29th as Qwa & Batsauce come to rock the Vaudeville Mews live in downtown Des Moines. Also on the fightcard is the ever soulful Lady Daisey, and fortunately, produced by Batsauce, this is another guaranteed neck breaker act to behold for all show goers. The sleeper act for the evening will likely be Old Irving, but the night will end with heads wide awake, as producers Pore & Max come to catch wreck on the live dual MPC set, rocked more than well by G4 emcee vet Robust, an ill producer in his own right. Maxilla, as always, will be in the joint to transform a few more bodies to skeletons, and to leave non-showgoers to pick up the pieces.

Returning to the quick and raw format employed by early 70’s pornstars, the cast of Maxilla Blue along with aid from Bashir (San Francisco) and the Shovel Kids (Des Moines) have completed a new volume of work under the banner of the BumRap Co. With over 80% of the album recorded in one day, as Maxilla rounded out the last San Francisco recording session for Volume 3 of the Blue series, Median Risers again offers a work in which the artists don’t take themselves too seriously, and head back in the direction of fresh beats, spur of the moment rhyme thoughts and patterns and Dj TouchNice gettin’ loose from top to bottom, spending minimal time on editing, polishing, effects, etc. Check the Elevated Leaks section for a short video piece on the thought process and approach to the bum business. Maxilla Blue will briefly join our long time friends, SoulCrate Music, and PROF’s crazy-wild ass, as their Happy Days Tour swings through the midwest. MBC will appear 6.9.11 in Omaha, NE, 6.10.11 in Des Moines, IA, 6.11.11 in Kansas City, MO. If you’re in the area, you know the science. Heads who make it out to the 6.10.11 show in Des Moines might even catch a little something special to leave with. We’ll see….and we’ll see you there.

The crew’s video for “Shovel Kids,” shot last fall and directed by Carlos De Leon, took 1st place and a Golden Eddy in the Professional Freestyle category at the 11th Annual Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, April 2011.
